PREFER Preschool

PREFER (Poverty Reduction, Education and Family Empowerment in Rwanda) is located in a beautiful area of Rwanda, 4km from Ruhengeri.

This website hopes to...

  • Explain some of the work they do, and how valuable their contribution to the local area is.
  • Give you the opportunity to contact PREFER within the UK.
  • Allow you to donate to PREFER.
  • Allow you to volunteer and help PREFER in the coming months.

PREFER in Rwanda is run by Cathy Emmerson.

'This was a year of growth for PREFER such as we have never seen before. The support we received was insurmountable and the health, welfare, hygiene and self-esteem of the children and families in my community have been changed beyond measure.'

'Your gifts, donations, support and love have touched more than 3000 persons in 2008. You made their lives better, their smiles bigger and their hearts a little more tender. You have saved lives and stopped deaths. We can never repay you for what you are doing but we can continue to grow strong with education and love and make you proud of us. I promise you this.'

The contact for PREFER in the UK is Marcus Reeves.

Though the mountain gorillas are the biggest draw for visitors to Rwanda, the people themselves are so friendly and welcoming, many travellers feel inspired to want to help change lives for the better.

Here is a marvellous opportunity to try and do this, through PREFER, where all donations are used for the benefit of the most deserving.
